Legal Showdown: Diezani’s Suit Against EFCC Pushed To December 7

She is challenging the orders secured by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for the permanent forfeiture of her confiscated assets.
The court session, originally set as the 15th case on the docket, was postponed due to the absence of the presiding judge, Justice Inyang Ekwo. The court has rescheduled the hearing for December 7 under the reference FHC/ABJ/CS/21/23.
Notably, Justice Ekwo had previously fixed Monday for the case’s hearing on June 21, after both Mr. Benson Igbanoi, who represented Alison-Madueke, and M.D. Baraya, counsel for the EFCC, had formalized their legal procedures for the case.
It’s worth mentioning that the EFCC had planned to publicly auction all the seized assets, which were deemed to be proceeds of criminal activities and ordered by the courts to be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.
This auctioning process, involving assets that presumably included properties belonging to Diezani, commenced on January 9.
