Popular on-air personalities, Natacha Akide, commonly known as Tacha, and Oladotun Ojuolape Kayode, aka Do2dtun, have criticized the attendees of the Lekki tollgate incident for the unfortunate outcome they faced. CONTINUE READING
It was reported that a candlelight procession, held in memory of the late singer Ilerioluwa Olademeji Aloba, famously known as Mohbad, saw attendees dispersed with tear gas by the police at the Lekki tollgate. The procession, which began at Lekki Phase 1 Gate, culminated in a tribute concert at Muri Okunola Park, Victoria Island, Lagos, featuring performances by Afrobeats sensations like Falz and Davido.

On her Instagram page, Tacha commended the actions of the Nigerian police. Urging attendees to stick to the event’s original intent, she wrote, “Kudos to the Nigerian police. We did not come out to continue #Endsars. Everybody came out for Mohbad’s candlelight procession. Stop changing the narrative.”
Do2dtun, meanwhile, criticized those who stayed behind at the Lekki tollgate well after the procession’s official end time at Muri Okunola Park. In a tweet, he pointed out, “Honesty over Honesty Nigerians do not listen. This procession ended at Muri Okunola park over 3 hours ago. It is not a protest. It is a CANDLELIGHT PROCESSION.”
While he rebuked attendees for their decisions, Do2dtun also censured the police for their actions, stating, “It’s not right for the police to do that but people hijack these things & turn it to something else. Na Lagos we dey.”
