‘Let the Curses Return To My Accusers — Woman’s Oath Sparks Panic in Viral Video
A dramatic scene has reportedly unfolded in a community in southeastern Nigeria after a woman accused of wrongdoing was asked to swear an oath to prove her innocence, only for her response to trigger panic among some of those present.
According to Bush Radio Academy, a viral video circulating on social media shows the woman standing before members of her husband’s family, who instructed her to kneel, pick up a kola nut placed on the ground and swear that she was innocent of the allegations against her.
The woman complied with the instructions and declared that she did not belong to any secret cult or group and had never committed evil against anyone.
She further stated that if she had ever intended to harm anyone, worked against another person or taken steps to cause someone harm, she should be denied the things she hoped to achieve in life.
“If I have ever even considered anyone evil, if I have even thought about it, if I have gone anywhere to work against anyone, or if I have actually taken action to do evil to anyone, whatever I’m looking for in this land, don’t let me see it,” she said.
The men present responded with “Iseee,” indicating their agreement with that part of the oath.
However, the atmosphere reportedly changed when the woman began to address the possibility that the accusations against her were false. She appeared ready to declare that, if she was innocent, the curses should return to those accusing her, including members of her husband’s family.
As she began the statement, some of the men shouted “mba,” meaning “no,” in an apparent attempt to stop her from continuing.
Despite their reaction, some women at the gathering encouraged her to proceed with the declaration, urging her to say the words she intended to speak.
The video has attracted attention online because of the contrasting reactions among those present as the woman attempted to complete her oath.
However, the circumstances behind the accusations and the exact location of the incident were not established in the available account. The allegations against the woman also remain unverified.
