Listen To The People!” – Labour Party Urges Jonathan To Heed Nigerians’ Pursuit

The Labour Party (LP) has urged former President Goodluck Jonathan to take into account the wishes of the majority of Nigerians concerning the 2027 presidential race.

Amid growing speculation that Jonathan may stage a political comeback, some political elites and supporters of the LP’s 2023 presidential candidate, Peter Obi, have called on him to step aside for the former Anambra State governor.

Backing the appeal, the party’s Interim National Publicity Secretary, Tony Akeni, in an interview on Arise Television on Friday, emphasized that Jonathan should respect the direction most Nigerians are pursuing.

Akeni argued that both Jonathan and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar must acknowledge the political shift embodied by Peter Obi.

He said:

“We are appealing to former President Jonathan to reflect on what the majority of Nigerians have set their hearts on—the presidency led by a younger generation candidate who embodies integrity, character, and consistency.

Nigerians have embraced the idea of leadership that resonates with their aspirations, and what is most urgent now is for both Atiku Abubakar and Goodluck Jonathan to accept that it’s time for a redirection.”
