Lookman made a key contribution in the return leg, providing the assist for Julian Alvarez’s equaliser, which helped Atletico regain composure after Spurs’ early dominance.

Speaking after the game, Lookman pointed to the crucial first-leg advantage as the deciding factor in their qualification.

“We’re very happy to be in the next round. Every game is tough, and everyone knows the quality in this competition,” he said.

“The five goals in the first leg made the difference, and there are still positives to take from tonight, so we move forward.

“Spurs scored first, and it would have been easy to lose control, but we stayed composed, remained in the game, and created chances. It was also nice to be back in London—I consider it home.”

Atletico will now face Barcelona in the quarter-finals after the Spanish giants advanced with an impressive performance against Newcastle.
