Speaking in Onitsha, Anambra State, at a good governance symposium organized by the Obidient Movement for the Southeast region, Yunusa emphasized that the 2023 election was marred by electoral malpractice that denied Obi his rightful victory. He assured that this time, the movement is determined to ensure fairness in the electoral process. “History will not repeat itself. In 2023, Obi’s victory was stolen, but in 2027, we will make sure the process is fair,” Yunusa declared.

The movement is actively advocating for electoral reforms, including the appointment of an INEC chairman by the public instead of the president. Yunusa also highlighted plans to deploy enough agents at polling units to monitor the election and ensure transparency.

He further critiqued the administration of President Bola Tinubu, claiming it has failed to meet the expectations of Nigerians across various regions, including the North, East, and West. According to Yunusa, this failure enhances Obi’s chances in 2027, as Nigerians increasingly look for alternative leadership.

Prof. Pat Utomi, who delivered the keynote address at the symposium, stressed the importance of collective action in bringing about meaningful change in Nigeria. “This movement is about sacrifice, and together, we can create a new Nigeria,” Utomi said.

The symposium, organized by the Peter Obi Support Network and chaired by Maazi Tochukwu Ezeoke, also aimed to strengthen the Obidient Movement’s presence in the South-East and expand its partnerships with support groups in Anambra State. The focus was on strategic development and maximizing the movement’s impact across the region.

Governorship aspirants of the Labour Party, including Chief Valentine Ozigbo, Chief John Nwosu, and Chief Ikenna Azomcine, also spoke at the event, underscoring the need for transformation in Anambra State and the promotion of good governance.
