Labour Party (LP) aspirant for the 2025 Anambra governorship election, John Nwosu, has announced his withdrawal from the race.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Nwosu made the decision just hours before the party’s primary election, which was scheduled for Saturday. He cited the Supreme Court ruling that removed Julius Abure as the party’s national chairman as the primary reason for his exit.

In his withdrawal statement, Nwosu accused the party’s officials at both the national and state levels of irregularities in the conduct of the governorship primary election. He stated, “After a thorough review of all activities, illegalities, and inappropriate conduct by officials overseeing the primary election, it is clear they did not adhere to the Labour Party’s Constitution, INEC guidelines, or electoral regulations.”

He also alleged that the delegates’ list for the primary was repeatedly altered and only made public eight hours before the election. “It is evident that no delegates’ congress was held in any of Anambra’s 21 local governments, yet a list of purported delegates surfaced, which was repeatedly altered and posted at the party secretariat only hours before the primary was due to start, violating electoral guidelines.”

Nwosu emphasized that his Christian values and principles would not allow him to be part of the primary. “I am convinced that participating in this primary would legitimize illegality, undermine due process, and go against my integrity and Christian beliefs,” he added.

He expressed gratitude to his supporters and reassured them of his commitment to pursuing his political ambitions through transparent and fair processes in the future.
