Speaking in an interview with Saturday Punch, the grandson of the late legend Fela Anikulapo-Kuti admitted that one of his biggest regrets was his early approach to learning instruments.

He explained that instead of focusing on one instrument at a time, he spread his energy too thin across several. “I wish I had practised more when I was younger. I regret jumping from instrument to instrument instead of learning them one after the other,” he confessed.

On his marriage, Made said that choosing a partner from a different tribe has never affected their relationship. According to him, his family background is already diverse, and his bond with his wife was built on shared values rather than ethnicity.

“My family is already very mixed, and when I met my wife, it wasn’t about ethnicity; it was about values. Even during the last general elections when ethnic tension was high, I ignored it. I’d make the same choice a hundred times over,” he stated.

The Afrobeat musician also reflected on the technical challenges of being a performer, particularly the discipline required to play the trumpet. He described the instrument as deceptively difficult, demanding relentless practice to maintain sound quality.

“Trying to master your craft is incredibly hard. Some days are good; others are really bad. Instruments like the trumpet look innocent but are tougher than the saxophone because they rely on mouth muscles that weaken quickly. Missing practice for just three days can affect your sound,” he explained.
