A tragic event unfolded in Maiduguri, Borno State’s capital, as a police inspector affiliated with the Gwange Divisional Police Command reportedly took his own life. The incident has stunned the community, leaving many bewildered as to why the officer, whose identity remains undisclosed, would resort to such an extreme act.

The inspector was last seen by residents three days prior, exhibiting no apparent signs of distress, which has only deepened the mystery surrounding his untimely demise.

Concerns arose on Saturday morning when neighbors noticed his door at Layin Bayan in the Wulari Jerusalem area was locked from the inside, accompanied by an unusual odor emanating from his residence.

Upon this discovery, alarmed neighbors promptly notified the authorities, prompting swift action from the Borno Police Command. Officers from the metro division were swiftly dispatched to the scene to probe the circumstances leading up to the inspector’s tragic death.

According to a source speaking to Daily Trust, “Early this morning, people in the compound noticed a strange odor coming from his apartment; his door was closed from the inside. Officers from the Metro and Gwange Divisions came to break the door, and his lifeless body was found on the bedroom floor. They are currently at the scene.
