The governor, presiding over the committee’s inauguration at the Executive Chamber of the Governor’s Office in the Secretariat, urged the committee members to approach the issues related to workers’ welfare in the state with open-mindedness and devise locally sourced solutions.
Governor Makinde also instructed the committee, led by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Prof. Olanike Adeyemo, to prepare a report outlining the strategies for implementing the workers’ demands. The committee has a six-week timeline to complete its task.
Makinde highlighted that his administration has been proactive in addressing the requests of labor unions and workers, which has fostered a harmonious relationship and facilitated the successful execution of various developmental projects in the state.
Comrade Kayode Martins, the Chairman of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) in Oyo State, emphasized that the committee’s primary focus would be on wage matters, aimed at mitigating the impact of fuel subsidy on the state’s workers within a reasonable timeframe.
