Makinde also addressed ongoing public discourse surrounding the proposed renaming of The Polytechnic, Ibadan to Omololu Olunloyo Polytechnic. He stressed the need for constructive engagement and said the government is open to listening to stakeholders, including alumni and students, on the matter.
“This inauguration would be incomplete without touching on the issue of renaming The Polytechnic, Ibadan,” Makinde said. “We are ready to engage the public—bring forward your arguments, not sentiments. If you want to talk about infrastructure, the quality of graduates, or the need for more government investment, we are open to that discussion.”
