The announcement was made on Wednesday by Dr. Gbonjubola Owolabi, the Provost of the Oyo State College of Nursing Sciences in Ibadan, during a meeting with 21 Nursing Tutors, whose Entry Grade Levels have been upgraded from GL08 to GL10. Dr. Owolabi encouraged the Nursing Tutors to carry out their duties with dedication, maintaining high standards of integrity and quality.
It is noteworthy that the National Council of Establishment (NCE) approved the elevation of university graduate nurses to grade level 10 at its 43rd meeting in 2022.
“The institution is committed to training nursing and healthcare professionals, producing qualified personnel capable of functioning effectively across community, primary, secondary, tertiary, and industrial health settings. I encourage you to align with this vision, and rest assured that the current administration will not deny you your rights,” stated Dr. Owolabi, as quoted in a statement issued by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information and Orientation, Prince Dotun Oyelade.
Dr. Owolabi also emphasized that the Oyo State government values integrity and quality, highlighting that the institution has received all necessary accreditations for various courses.
The Provost expressed gratitude to Governor Seyi Makinde for approving the promotion of the 21 Nursing Tutors, urging them to show dedication in return for this gesture.
In her vote of thanks, Nursing Tutor Abiola Elizabeth praised the institution’s management, stating that the approval from the Civil Service further underscores the priority the Oyo State government places on the health sector.
