The arrest stems from a serious assault on a police officer in Lagos State on June 22, 2024, at Chevron Roundabout, Lekki. Following his arraignment, Jacobs has been remanded at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre. The case is scheduled for hearing on July 8, 2024.

Nigerian police spokesperson Olumuyiwa Adejobi provided an update on the case, expressing concern over the assault. Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, condemned the incident and assured full support to police officers whose rights are violated. He emphasized the importance of officer safety and citizen cooperation in maintaining law and order. The Nigeria Police Force reaffirmed its commitment to upholding justice and will prosecute those responsible for assaulting officers.
