The Katsina State Police have arrested Halilu Yusuf, a 21-year-old, on charges of kidnapping a six-year-old boy. Police spokesman ASP Abubakar Aliyu reported that Yusuf was apprehended on August 17 around 2 p.m. in Gezawa, Shinkafi village, following credible intelligence.

According to Aliyu, Yusuf abducted the child, who is the son of his mentor, from Kofar-Sauri quarters and demanded a ransom of N2 million from the father. Yusuf initially kept the boy in his room and later moved him to a different location, unaware that police were tracking him.

The suspect initially contacted the father anonymously to inform him of the abduction. Upon receiving the report, police mobilized a team led by the DPO GRA, Katsina. The team successfully located and arrested Yusuf, rescuing the boy unharmed.

During the investigation, Yusuf confessed to the crime. He will be charged in court once the investigation is complete.
