Man Arrested For Fatally Stabbing Friend Over Phone Dispute In Niger State

The Niger State Police Command has arrested Mohammed Isah for allegedly killing his friend, Nurudeen Nuhu, over a mobile phone.
It was reported that Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen in the stomach with a knife during a fight in the abattoir area of Kwata Tayi village, a suburb of Minna, on Saturday morning, June 29, 2024.
Nurudeen collapsed immediately and was rushed to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The spokesperson of the command, SP Wasiu Abiodun, confirmed the incident to journalists.
“It was reported at GRA Division that there was a fight between Mohammed Isah of Angwan-Biri and Nurudeen Nuhu of Angwan-Daji at the Abattoir area, Kwata Tayi village, over a handset issue,” the PPRO said.
“During the fight, Mohammed Isah allegedly stabbed Nurudeen in the stomach with a knife. Police operatives attached to the Division moved to the scene and rushed the victim to the General Hospital, where he was confirmed dead.
“Mohammed Isah was arrested, and a preliminary investigation is ongoing. He will soon be transferred to SCID for further investigation and prosecution.”
The PPRO also noted that police patrol teams have been stationed in the area to restore order and prevent any potential reprisals in the area, which is known for youth restiveness.
