Man Cries Out After Church Allegedly Sells Him Cucumber Instead Of Shawarma

A Nigerian man, Chukwuebuka Abazu, has expressed disappointment after purchasing what he believed was shawarma during a church harvest programme, only to discover that the food contained cucumber instead.

According to Bush Radio Academy, Abazu said he attended his first church service since August during the harvest event, where the food was repeatedly advertised as shawarma during a fundraising programme.

He explained that he decided to support the church by purchasing two portions of the item and took them home, intending to have them as an appetiser.

According to him, he asked his sister to heat the food before he could eat it. However, after unwrapping the package, he was surprised to discover that cucumber had been used as the filling.

Abazu said he initially thought the unusual texture could have been caused by a different type of shawarma bread because he trusted the description given during the church programme.

Expressing his disappointment in a Facebook post, he said he would still have supported the church if the item had been advertised honestly as cucumber-based food.

“If you told me it’s cucumber, I will still support the church but definitely not in the same way I would do for shawarma. I think this is deception,” he said.

His experience has since attracted attention, with the incident highlighting the importance of accurately describing food items sold during fundraising and church programmes.
