Man Returns To Nigeria, Discovers Elder Brother Sold His ₦10m Property For ₦100m
A Nigerian man living in the United States has reportedly discovered that his elder brother sold a shopping complex he had purchased for ₦10 million for ₦100 million without his knowledge or consent.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the man said he acquired the property during a visit to Nigeria in 2020 and entrusted the relevant documents to his elder brother before returning to the United States. He explained that his brother had been involved in the property transaction from the beginning, which made him comfortable leaving the documents in his care.
The man said that in 2025, his elder brother contacted him and claimed that an ongoing government road construction project would affect the property and could result in the demolition of the shopping complex.
Believing the explanation, the man said he accepted the situation and did not immediately take further action because he thought the property was genuinely at risk of being demolished as a result of the road project.
However, after returning to Nigeria this year, the man reportedly drove past the property and became suspicious when he noticed that there was no road construction in the area. Instead, he discovered that a large eatery was operating on the land.
He subsequently made enquiries and allegedly discovered that the shopping complex had been sold to the business operating on the property. When he confronted his elder brother, the brother reportedly admitted that he had sold the property for ₦100 million.
The revelation means that the property, which the man said he purchased for ₦10 million, was allegedly sold for ten times its original purchase price without his approval.
The incident has reportedly raised concerns about the risks involved in entrusting valuable property documents and financial responsibilities to relatives, particularly when the owner lives outside the country
