Man Sentenced To Five Years For Trafficking Two Individuals From Kano To Libya

44-year-old Mohammed Usman has been handed a five-year prison term for trafficking two individuals from Kano to Libya. The conviction came after prosecution by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP).

In an announcement on Thursday, May 16, 2024, NAPTIP revealed that Usman, hailing from Walalambe in the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, was found guilty on two counts pressed against him by the agency.

“Mohammed Usman from Walalambe, Nasarawa Local Government Area of Kano State, was convicted on two counts and received a 5-year prison sentence for each count, without the possibility of a fine, for facilitating the illegal transportation of two individuals from Kano to Libya. This contravenes the Trafficking in Persons Act 2015 and is punishable under Section 26(1). Justice has been served!,” the statement emphasized
