A Nigerian man has recounted how a pastor’s alleged prophecy reportedly contributed to the collapse of his marriage, claiming that the religious declaration left him devastated after he had already completed the traditional and legal aspects of marrying his wife.

According to Bush Radio Academy, the man shared his experience in a video posted on social media, explaining that he had already paid his wife’s bride price and conducted a church wedding when a pastor allegedly told her that her husband was still “coming.”

The revelation reportedly left the man confused and deeply hurt, as he believed their marriage was already established and that both of them had committed to spending their lives together.

Recounting the experience, he said the pastor’s statement made him question how another husband could supposedly be on the way when he had already completed the necessary marriage rites and legally married the woman.

“That was a deceit. Na wetin break my marriage be that. She left me after we got married and it totally broke me,” the man stated.

He expressed disappointment over what he described as the pastor’s alleged role in the breakdown of his marriage, questioning why such a declaration would be made to a woman who was already married.

The man also warned religious leaders to be careful with prophecies and spiritual declarations, particularly when such statements could influence major personal decisions or create conflict within families.

“As a pastor, if you know God didn’t call you, don’t deceive people and ruin their homes,” he said.

His account has since generated reactions online, with some social media users sympathising with him over the alleged impact of the prophecy, while others questioned the circumstances surrounding the couple’s separation and the extent to which the pastor’s statement influenced the decision.

The incident has also renewed discussions about the influence of religious declarations on relationships and the need for individuals to exercise caution before making major life decisions based solely on alleged prophecies.
