In a recent post on his official Facebook page, Governor Dauda Lawal reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), declaring himself a “bona fide member” of the party.

He urged the public to dismiss the spreading rumors, attributing them to detractors seeking to distract his administration from its primary goal of serving the people of Zamfara.

“I am Dauda Lawal, a bona fide member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). Disregard the fake news from those determined to derail our RESCUE MISSION,” the post read.

Governor Lawal reiterated that his focus remains on delivering the mandate entrusted to him by the people of Zamfara, rather than engaging in political distractions.

This clarification follows widespread speculation fueled by reports suggesting that he was considering a defection to the APC.

In a separate development, a major security victory was achieved as troops from Operation FANSAN YANMA successfully eliminated Kachalla Bello Kaura, a notorious bandit leader, during a targeted raid in Goburawar Dawan Jiya village in Anka Local Government Area, Zamfara State.

According to sources cited by Zagazola Makama, the operation was part of a week-long offensive, culminating in Kaura’s death and the neutralization of several of his fighters at their hideout.

Kaura was a prominent terror figure linked to numerous deadly attacks across Zamfara, Kebbi, and Sokoto States. He was reportedly affiliated with the Ansaruddin terror group, playing a critical role in their incursions into Bagega Forest and the Gando Game Reserve.

Kaura was also believed to be an expert in deploying improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a skill he acquired during his association with the group.

A native of Sunke village in Anka LGA, Kaura was the younger brother of the late Kachalla Alhaji Shadari, another notorious bandit leader, who was killed by security forces in January 2023 during a military operation in Sunke Forest.
