In a statement issued on Monday, August 5, 2024, the command’s spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, confirmed that the suspects have been charged.

Meanwhile, Kano State High Court spokesperson Baba Ibrahim announced on Sunday that the judiciary has initiated an investigation to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

Ibrahim detailed that on Thursday, August 1, the assailants broke into the court’s headquarters, causing significant damage. They stole an unspecified amount of money and firearms from ongoing cases, vandalized both private and official vehicles, and destroyed offices, including those of the Chief Judge and other judges. The vandals also damaged and scattered old and new case files.

“This is the first such incident in the Kano State Judiciary’s history,” Ibrahim added. “The court’s premises and vehicles parked there were extensively damaged and looted.
