Messi, who led Inter Miami to victory in the MLS Cup on Sunday, December 7, has reportedly made it clear that he envisions returning to Barcelona—the city where he became a global football icon—once his playing career concludes.

Although Messi’s contract with Inter Miami runs through 2028, Beckham revealed that the 38-year-old already has a clear picture of his post-retirement life. Speaking to Marca, Beckham said he had hoped Messi might consider staying in the United States after hanging up his boots.

“I would like Messi to live in Miami after he retires. But Leo told me he only thinks about living near the Camp Nou,” Beckham said.
