In a proactive measure aimed at improving community hygiene, the 35 Artillery Brigade Alamala, Abeokuta, Ogun State, conducted a comprehensive cleanup of Lafenwa Market and the surrounding drainages on Wednesday. This initiative, according to the Brigade, is a gesture of community service aimed at promoting better sanitation practices among residents.
The military’s efforts not only seek to make a positive impact on society but also aim to foster a cleaner and healthier environment by encouraging improved sanitation habits among the populace.
In related news, the Ogun State government has issued a warning following the official report of 25 cases of Cholera across seven local government areas. One fatality was reported recently in Ijebu North local government within the Ogun East Senatorial district. Dr. Tomi Coker, the state commissioner for health, disclosed this information during a press conference at the Olusegun Osoba Press Centre in Abeokuta, the state capital.
Dr. Coker emphasized that comprehensive surveillance and emergency medical measures have been activated across all 20 local government areas of the state. The most affected areas by the outbreak include Abeokuta South, Abeokuta North, Obafemi/Owode, Ijebu North, Ado, and Odo/OTA local government areas.
While assuring the public of the state government’s and its partners’ preparedness, she urged residents to prioritize good personal and public hygiene practices to curb the spread of the disease.
