Minister Abubakar Momoh Mourns Sommie Maduagu, Demands Justice for Slain Arise Media Icon

CONDOLENCE MESSAGE FROM THE HONOURABLE MINISTER OF REGIONAL DEVELOPMENT

It is with a heavy heart that I received the shocking news of the tragic passing of Ms. Somtochukwu Christelle Maduagwu (popularly known as Sommie Maduagwu), a budding media icon of Arise News.

This senseless and dastardly act has robbed not only Arise News but also our nation of a bright and promising young professional whose talent and dedication were already making waves in the media industry.

On behalf of the Ministry of Regional Development, I extend my deepest condolences to the management and staff of Arise News, her family, friends, and colleagues. May they find strength and comfort in this very difficult time.

I strongly condemn the dastardly act that led to her death. Such cruelty has no place in our society. I urge the Nigeria Police Force and all relevant security agencies to leave no stone unturned in their investigation and to ensure that the perpetrators of this heinous crime are swiftly apprehended and brought to justice.

Justice for Sommie is justice for every Nigerian who believes in a safer, freer, and more accountable nation.

May her soul rest in perfect peace, and may her legacy continue to inspire generations of journalists to come.

Signed.
