“Nobody is resting. Not the NSA, not the Minister of Defence, not the Chief of Defence Staff, not the DSS. Nobody is sleeping, we are working,” Tunji-Ojo said. He underlined that the government takes full responsibility for ensuring the security of Nigerians on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.

The minister noted that there have been improvements in security since the Tinubu administration took office. He pointed to the degradation of Boko Haram and the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP) as evidence of progress made by the military in the fight against terrorism.

Tunji-Ojo acknowledged the recent attacks by a new terror group in Sokoto and Kebbi states but urged Nigerians not to judge the President based solely on the level of security assurance. “The President is sensitive to these issues,” he said. “Talk is cheap, the real deal is the action. We came into power on May 29 last year. Have we achieved everything? No. Are we in the same position as before? No. We have made progress.
