Tijani emphasized the necessity of harnessing technological expertise among the youth to address global challenges, stressing that traditional occupations like fishing are insufficient for contemporary progress.

During the 33rd convocation lecture at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), the minister highlighted the importance of identifying and enhancing three pivotal sectors—agriculture, manufacturing, and servicing—to boost the country’s development.

These sectors have served as benchmarks for measuring the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) since 1980.

In his lecture titled “Knowledge and Research as a Foundation for a Prosperous Economy,” Tijani underscored the responsibility of technology-focused universities to meet the demands of technological advancement in the nation.

He urged universities to play a role in job creation through technological innovation, advising students to embrace self-investment for personal and societal progress.
