The incarcerated President of Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore, Bello Bodejo, has asserted before the Federal High Court in Abuja that he lacks any criminal history.
Bodejo, who stands accused of purportedly organizing an armed militia to the detriment of national unity, conveyed to Justice Inyang Ekwo through a bail plea presented by his legal representative, Ahmed Raji, SAN, that he has been grappling with serious health issues during his detention.
In the motion bearing charge number: FHC/ABJ/CR/141/2024, dated March 28 and lodged before the court, he implored for a decree allowing him bail under lenient conditions until the case against him is resolved.
Following his arrest on January 23 in Malia, Nasarawa State, and subsequent confinement under the custody of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), Bodejo was arraigned before Justice Ekwo on March 22, facing a trio of charges related to terrorism.
Citing nine grounds justifying his bail request, the detained Miyetti Allah leader contended that the alleged offenses are bailable in nature.
“The defendant/applicant maintains a clean criminal record,” he affirmed.
He further highlighted his sterling reputation as evidence not only of his dependability and trustworthiness but also of his commitment to abiding by bail conditions if granted.
Additionally, he underscored his deteriorating health as an exceptional circumstance meriting consideration.
