Despite the completion of the autopsy on Mohbad’s body, conducted two months after his burial, the police command in Lagos has not yet been formally provided with the report.
The singer’s death on September 12 prompted a police investigation, leading to the formation of a team to determine the circumstances surrounding his demise.
In September, Benjamin Hundeyin, the public relations officer for the state police, mentioned on Twitter that the autopsy had been completed, and the authorities were awaiting the results.
The investigation linked Mohbad’s death to several main suspects, including the then-Commissioner of Police Idowu Owohunwa, who disclosed that the singer had experienced adverse reactions after receiving injections from nurse Feyisayo Ogedemgbe on the fateful day.
Charges were subsequently filed against some of the suspects. Recently, singers Azeez Fashola (Naira Marley) and Balogun Samson (Sam Larry) were released by the state Police Command after meeting their bail conditions.
In response to inquiries about the release of Mohbad’s autopsy report, Hundeyin clarified that the report had not been officially handed over to the command.
He emphasized the importance of official confirmation, stating, “It’s one thing for it to be ready, it’s another thing for it to be given to us officially – that we would receive and sign a copy that we have received it. So, we don’t work with rumours, we work with facts.”
