In an exclusive report by PUNCH Metro, the US-based lab contradicted the Lagos State Government’s assertion that the toxicology examination took place at their facility.

This revelation surfaced following inquiries made by our correspondent, aimed at uncovering the circumstances surrounding the musician’s demise.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, during a live telephone call with Ahmad Isah, the host of the Brekete Family program in February 2024, had claimed that the toxicology test was underway at NMS Labs in Pennsylvania, USA.However, during a testimony before the Coroner’s Court on May 15, a pathologist disclosed that Mohbad’s cause of death couldn’t be determined due to the advanced decomposition of his body.

In response to PUNCH Metro’s investigation on May 17, Esther Dede, the Client Services Associate of NMS Labs, stated, “Unfortunately, we do not have a case for that patient.

“Expressing his dismay, Aloba alleged a cover-up, stating, “I was brought to tears by the denial. I never anticipated such deception.

It now appears that the claim of sending it to the US was fabricated from the outset, hinting at an effort to conceal the truth.

“Aloba further emphasized his determination to seek justice for his son, echoing Mohbad’s premonition before his demise that his family would ensure justice if any harm befell him.Additionally, he urged Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to investigate the officials of the Lagos State Forensic and DNA Centre involved in the autopsy process.

Mohbad, aged 27, passed away on September 12, 2023, under circumstances that stirred controversy on social media.

As a former signee of Marlian Music owned by Naira Marley, Mohbad’s departure from the label in February 2022 added intrigue to the circumstances surrounding his death.

The Lagos State Police Command, on September 18, 2023, constituted a 13-man special investigation team to unravel the mystery behind the singer’s demise.

His death also led to the apprehension of Naira Marley and controversial Lagos socialite, Balogun Eletu, among others.Subsequently, on September 21, 2023, Mohbad’s body was exhumed for autopsy in a bid to ascertain the cause of death.
