The altercation unfolded when Blessing, driven by the desperate need to feed her hungry children, stole a bunch of plantains from a plantation. Mrs. Imeran Idema, who was overseeing the plantation for her family, confronted Blessing and demanded she return the stolen produce. Despite the confrontation, Blessing attempted to escape with the plantains.

In an attempt to prevent Blessing from fleeing, Idema threatened her with a cutlass. A heated argument ensued, leading Idema to use the machete to stab Blessing in the leg. In retaliation, Blessing reportedly seized the machete and inflicted multiple injuries on Idema, leaving her bleeding inside the plantation.

The commotion attracted the attention of Idema’s family members, who rushed her to the hospital. Before succumbing to her injuries, Idema managed to identify Blessing as her assailant and explained the circumstances leading to the violent encounter.

A police report was filed, leading to the subsequent arrest of Blessing Godday. Initially sent home for medical treatment due to her pregnancy, she was rearrested two days later after further investigation.

Commissioner of Police, CP Olatunji Disu, confirmed the incident and emphasized the importance of thoughtful decision-making. He urged individuals to consider the consequences of their actions, particularly in matters of procreation, advising heads of households to responsibly manage their lives and family planning.
