The ceremony, held at the Kano Emir’s Palace on Wednesday, was led by Chief Imam of Kano, Sheikh Prof. Sani Zahraddeen. It drew a significant crowd from within and beyond the state.

After the funeral prayers, the late Galadiman Kano, father of Kano APC Chairman Abdullahi Abbas, was laid to rest at Gandun Albasa Graveyard. Governor Yusuf, along with his deputy, Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, and other top government officials, were present to honor the traditional titleholder.

Abba Sunusi, who passed away at the age of 91 following a lengthy illness, left behind 35 children, several wives, and numerous relatives. His death has been described as a major loss to both the state and the country’s traditional institutions.

Governor Yusuf expressed deep sorrow, stating that the late Galadiman Kano was one of Nigeria’s longest-serving titleholders. “His passing leaves an irreplaceable gap in the emirate’s leadership,” Yusuf remarked, praying for forgiveness and divine elevation for the late leader.

On behalf of the governor and the state government, Deputy Governor Gwarzo extended condolences to the family, friends, and associates of the deceased, praying for comfort and mercy during this difficult time.

Abdullahi Abbas, the eldest son of the late Galadiman Kano, conveyed heartfelt thanks for the support shown by the governor and the people of Kano, praying that Allah blesses them for their kindness and solidarity during the mourning period.
