Mum In Disbelief As Two Kids Tragically Lose Their Lives Using Helium-Filled Scuba Tank Instead Of Oxygen

Suzie Dudas, a Florida-based farmer, has shared her profound “upset, anger, and disbelief” after her two young children, Zale (9) and Saxon (7), tragically lost their lives while using scuba tanks filled with helium instead of oxygen in a friend’s pool.

The incident occurred on April 23, 2021, when Suzie’s ex-husband took the children to a friend’s house for the day. Unbeknownst to them, the scuba tanks provided to the kids contained helium, typically used by scuba divers for deep diving and usually mixed with oxygen.

Breathing in 100% helium left Zale and Saxon unconscious, leading to their drowning. Despite efforts by Suzie’s ex-husband and medical staff, the children passed away four days later, on April 27, 2021.

Suzie, grappling with grief and guilt, questions why the tanks were not checked and how both children could lose their lives when the tank supposedly had only one breathing tube. In her pursuit of justice, Suzie is campaigning for the investigation to be reopened, dissatisfied with the decision by authorities not to file charges.

The Florida State Attorney, Thomas Bakkedahl, explained that after an exhaustive review, legal research, and consultations, the state could not, in good faith, pursue criminal charges due to legal constraints. Bakkedahl expressed condolences to those who loved Zale and Saxon and acknowledged the heartbreakingly tragic nature of the event.

Suzie, however, continues to grapple with the profound loss of her children and seeks answers and accountability, determined to shed light on the circumstances surrounding the devastating incident.
