A student from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Christiana Idowu, who was abducted between Ikorodu and Yaba in Lagos State, has been confirmed murdered by her captors. On August 26, a family source disclosed to PUNCH Metro that the kidnappers had initially demanded a ransom of ₦3 million for her release. Christiana had been traveling from her home in Itaoluwo, Ikorodu, to the University of Lagos for industrial training when she was abducted. After a period of silence, the kidnappers contacted her family via her phone, demanding the ransom. Despite paying ₦350,000 as agreed, they refused to release her.

In a viral post on X, user @letter_to_jack revealed that intelligence operatives used the BVN and account details from the ransom payment to trace the abductor. The operatives identified the suspect through the betting account used for the ransom and found that he had withdrawn ₦100,000 before the account was locked. Further investigation linked him to Ikorodu and Christiana’s social media accounts, which showed mutual interactions. The operatives traced his phone activities to his parent’s house in Ikorodu.

Attempts to contact Christiana’s family and the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, for further comments were unsuccessful at the time of reporting.
