Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has spoken candidly about the financial difficulties he faced shortly after getting married, revealing that he lost his job just months into his marriage and struggled to stay afloat.....KINDLY READ THE FULL STORY HERE▶

Speaking in an interview with Tope Olowoniyan, the actor recalled that he tied the knot in August but was laid off by November of the same year, leaving him without a stable source of income.

According to Arukwe, the unexpected job loss threw his finances into disarray and marked the beginning of a prolonged period of financial hardship.

As if that was not enough, he said he was also involved in a car accident around the same time, further worsening his financial situation.

The actor explained that the combined impact of unemployment, mounting family responsibilities and recurring expenses forced him to become extremely cautious with money, particularly because his annual rent falls due every January.

“The same year that I settled down, I lost my job. I got married in August, and I lost my job in November. That happened, and my finances just went crazy,” he said.

Arukwe added that while many people celebrate lavishly during the festive season, he often spends the period planning how to meet his financial obligations.

“At that same period, I had an accident with my car. It was stupid, it was a mess. My yearly rent starts in January, so when everyone is doing Detty December—and this has been happening since 2013—I’m always calculating. I am not spending, I am not partying; I’m literally calculating stuff. My rent was due every January and when my first daughter came, school fees happened too. So, yes, my finances have been a mess for the longest. My small circle of friends know,” he said.

Uzor Arukwe is married to Barbara Arukwe, and the couple has two daughters.
