Enumabia River in Orokam community Benue State, Nigeria Is believed not to be a normal river as it does the opposite of what other rivers do. It’s dry during the rainy season and full during the dry season Members of the community also say that to fetch water from the river, you have to dance first before fetching else when the individual gets home his or her leg will be swollen.

Members of the community also worship the river by giving sacrifices to it. According to them, a crocodile comes out to receive the sacrifice and most people confirm that they have witnessed it The river water is very clean and good for drinking and has made sure that the people of the community never suffer from water during the dry season.

“It’s my village river and to be sincere with you, some of the story here are not true. My parents told us they do go fetch from the river at their youthful age but they never tell us anybody do worship the river nor the river dry & got filled anytime. The only truth is that .the river is very clean more than any other river you may think of and also, the river remain normal during the dry season that other rivers got dried up. The river are two besides each other around that area. We call them “Ókpá-ógbódó & Ènúmábíá”. Both rivers service the community up to 6 communities around that axis. The Enumabia, we also call it “ochacha” do to the way it rush out & it’s cleanness. God bless the community with those rivers. And also, any first comer must dance before entering the river. That’s all I know. Pardon me sir!”
