The Nigeria Air Force (NAF) has successfully demolished the arms storage facility belonging to one of the most notorious terrorists operating in Niger State.

Under the ongoing Operation WHIRL PUNCH, military operatives are intensively scouring the Northwest and North Central regions of Nigeria to root out terrorist elements.

Edward Gabkwet, an Air Vice Marshal and spokesman for the Air Force, revealed in a statement on Tuesday that credible intelligence led to the discovery of the terrorists’ storage facility.

“NAF aircraft, as part of Operation WHIRL PUNCH, has been relentless in dismantling terrorist networks and their supply lines, particularly in the Northwest and North Central regions of Nigeria. A significant victory was achieved on March 15, 2024, when NAF strikes successfully targeted and obliterated a terrorists’ logistics storage facility located in Palele near Shiroro in Niger State,” Gabkwet announced.

Gabkwet further stated that the operation was conducted with prior authorization, and a secondary explosion confirmed the destruction of the stored arms and ammunition.

“The swift and precise execution of the operation resulted in substantial damage to the target area, including a secondary explosion verifying the destruction of arms and ammunition. These weapons are believed to be associated with a notorious terrorist leader who is among the most wanted,” he elaborated.

While urging the public to provide support in combating terrorism and other criminal activities, Gabkwet emphasized, “These operations have undoubtedly weakened the capabilities of terrorist elements in the region, thereby reducing the threat to innocent civilians, especially in Kaduna and Niger States.
