NAICOM Joins Forces With Police To Ensure Mandatory Insurance Compliance

During a courtesy visit to the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, in Abuja, Thomas highlighted the importance of strengthening ties between NAICOM and the police for effective enforcement measures.

In response, the Inspector General of Police acknowledged NAICOM’s support in insuring the Nigerian Police Force and pledged to foster a closer working relationship with the Commission.

In addressing the imperative of increasing compliance with compulsory insurance, Thomas had previously urged both federal and state governments to allocate sufficient resources for the insurance of public buildings and structures under construction in their annual budgets. Emphasizing the mandatory nature of these insurances according to existing laws in Nigeria, he called for universal adherence.

Thomas specifically commended the Lagos State government for setting an example by incorporating insurance laws into its policies and encouraged other state governments to follow suit by domesticating similar laws within their jurisdictions. This strategic move, he believes, will contribute to the overall improvement of compulsory insurance adoption across the country.
