NANS alleges that Tunji-Ojo should be probed for his purported involvement in a N438.1 million consultancy contract with the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation. The student association expressed these concerns in a statement released by its President, Pedro Obi, on Tuesday.

Betta Edu faced suspension over accusations of transferring N585 million of Federal Government funds into a personal account. Simultaneously, there are claims that New Planet Project Limited, a company reportedly owned by Tunji-Ojo, received N438.1 million for consultancy services from Edu’s ministry.

Tunji-Ojo, in response to these allegations during a TV program on Monday, acknowledged his past association with the company. He asserted that he resigned in 2019 when he contested for the House of Representatives. The minister described the report as shocking and clarified that although he remains a shareholder in the company, he is not involved in its day-to-day operations since his resignation.

NANS President Pedro Obi insists on a thorough investigation into Tunji-Ojo’s alleged involvement in the N438.1 million consultancy fee. In the statement, Obi emphasized the need for President Bola Tinubu to order an extensive probe into the financial transactions supervised by the suspended Minister, Betta Edu. He stressed that the investigation should not only scrutinize how every penny was spent but should also lead to the prosecution of anyone found culpable, in accordance with the laws of the land.
