NANS Warns Enemies Within: NNPC Leadership Has Our Full Backing!

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has expressed strong support for the current leadership of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), while cautioning against a “deliberate campaign of sabotage” aimed at undermining the company’s reform efforts.

In a press statement released on Friday and signed by Comrade Adeyemi Ajasa, the National Public Relations Officer of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the student body voiced deep concern over a recent announcement from NNPC Ltd., which revealed that both internal and external forces are allegedly working to derail the company’s reform agenda.

NANS strongly condemned what it called “a deliberate campaign of misinformation and calculated falsehoods” by individuals threatened by transparency, accountability, and change. “These forces, alarmed by the sweeping reforms at NNPC Ltd., have resorted to peddling lies and scandalous claims in a desperate attempt to frustrate efforts to transform the company into a corruption-free, performance-oriented energy institution,” the statement said.

The association aligned the NNPC reforms with President Bola Tinubu’s broader Renewed Hope Agenda, emphasizing that the initiatives are crucial to restoring trust and efficiency in Nigeria’s oil and gas sector. Representing over 40 million students locally and internationally, NANS declared unwavering support for both the NNPC leadership and Tinubu’s petroleum sector reforms.

“We wholeheartedly endorse the current transformation efforts at NNPC Ltd.,” the group said. “These reforms are not only necessary—they are fundamental to safeguarding our nation’s economic future and sovereignty.”

Furthermore, NANS issued a strong warning to what it termed “enemies of progress,” vowing to take peaceful but resolute action if sabotage attempts continue.

“Should this campaign of slander and malicious intent persist, we will not hesitate to mobilize Nigerian students nationwide in lawful protest to defend NNPC Ltd.,” Ajasa stated.

Labeling the attacks as evidence of “corruption fighting back,” the association called on civil society, media, and patriotic Nigerians to join in protecting the gains of the reform process.

“We will resist sabotage with unity. We will fight misinformation with facts. And we will confront backwardness with bold determination,” the statement concluded.
