Nasarawa United vs Niger Tornadoes: High-Stakes Northern Derby Set For Matchday 6
Nasarawa United will host Niger Tornadoes on Sunday in a crucial northern derby as both teams battle for vital points in Matchday 6 of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL).
The encounter is scheduled to kick off at 4pm, with Nasarawa United looking to make the most of home advantage and improve their position following a difficult start to the season.
Nasarawa United head coach Mbwas Mangut has expressed concern over his team’s current league position after the Solid Miners collected just four points from their opening five matches.
According to Bush Radio Academy, Mangut challenged his players to respond positively against their regional rivals and begin turning their fortunes around.
“If you look at the log, it’s really something to worry about. Five games, amounting to 15 points, and we have four points from those,” the coach said.
He added that the team would seek to move beyond its difficult start and establish greater stability as the campaign progresses.
The clash is expected to attract attention as both sides pursue a result that could provide an important boost to their respective campaigns, while also adding another chapter to the rivalry between the two northern clubs.
The NPFL Matchday 6 fixtures began on Saturday, September 26, with Sporting Lagos hosting Barau FC in a 4pm kickoff. The remaining fixtures are scheduled for Sunday, with all matches set to begin at 4pm.
Warri Wolves will face Shooting Stars, while Kun Khalifat FC will take on Kwara United. Ranchers Bees will host Rivers United, Kano Pillars will welcome Enyimba, and Ikorodu City will face Enugu Rangers.
Elsewhere, Abia Warriors will play Bendel Insurance, Katsina United will host Doma United, and Plateau United will take on Inter Lagos FC.
