Benjamin Kalu, has emphasized the 10th Assembly’s dedication to collaborating with the Executive to ensure the responsible use of government funds by various agencies.
Kalu made this declaration during the introduction of the House Committee on Public Accounts (PAC) and a workshop organized for its members by the Africa Development Study Center (ADSC) in Abuja.
He underscored the significance of PAC, stating that it’s one of the most vital committees in the house, and its importance is clearly defined in Section 85 subsection 5 of the Constitution, which authorizes PAC.
to scrutinize government’s audited accounts, the allocation of funds granted by the house for public expenditure, and any reports provided by the Auditor General of the Federation concerning these accounts.
In the 10th Assembly, PAC is committed to fostering closer collaboration with the executive branch to ensure that Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) adhere to the principles of accountability, transparency, and sound management of public funds.
