According to reports, Akpabio alleged that Akpoti-Uduaghan falsely accused him of orchestrating an assassination plot against her. He described the allegation as a “heinous lie” aimed at tarnishing his reputation and stirring public unrest.

However, in a statement issued on Saturday by her legal counsel, Victor Giwa, Akpoti-Uduaghan insisted that Akpabio’s petition was a calculated attempt to divert law enforcement from addressing more serious accusations against him.

Giwa emphasized that the Senate President should first submit himself to a thorough investigation over the alleged threat to Akpoti-Uduaghan’s life, especially regarding the purportedly unlawful withdrawal of her security personnel on Akpabio’s orders.
