The incident, which occurred on Jemesi Papa Street, Modina Road, Egan, in the Igando area, has sparked outrage among residents.
According to reports, the child had been living with a couple, Adline Ogbonna and Onyema Paul, said to be relatives, who allegedly subjected her to repeated maltreatment before her death.
Faith was reportedly brought from her village to stay with the couple but was allegedly exposed to prolonged neglect and physical abuse.
Speaking on the incident, Lagos Coordinator of the TIB Movement, Adekunle Taofeeq, who visited the scene, recounted troubling details surrounding the girl’s final days.
He said he was informed the child had been ill for about two weeks, yet was allegedly still being beaten and made to carry out chores, including fetching water despite her condition.
Taofeeq added that reports from neighbours suggested the couple had assaulted the girl inside their room, although the exact circumstances leading to her death remain unclear.
Suspicion reportedly arose when neighbours noticed the child had not been seen and later feared she may have died inside the house.
According to Taofeeq, the child’s body was allegedly left inside while routine household activities continued outside, until concerns from residents prompted intervention.
He said he documented the scene and helped facilitate efforts to remove the body.
He also alleged that the male guardian attempted to move the corpse with a wheelbarrow but was stopped by neighbours who feared he intended to dispose of it.
Taofeeq said the suspect later claimed the child had been taken to hospital alive, but a doctor reportedly informed him she was brought in dead.
He added that the girl was first taken to a nearby pharmacy, where she was also reportedly confirmed dead on arrival.
Police operatives from the Igando Division were alerted and responded to the scene.
The two suspects have since been arrested, while authorities continue investigations into the circumstances surrounding the child’s death.
