NBS Announces Fall In Cooking Gas Prices Across Nigeria

According to the latest Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Cooking Gas) Price Watch report by the NBS, Borno State in the Northeast recorded the highest average price for a 5kg cylinder at ₦7,088.59. Yobe State, also in the Northeast, had the second-highest average price at ₦6,935.50, followed by Sokoto State with an average of ₦6,750.00.

In contrast, Delta State in the South-South zone reported the lowest average price of ₦5,392.86, with Zamfara State in the Northwest at ₦5,431.25, and Kogi State in the North Central zone at ₦5,560.63.

The report highlights regional price variations:
– The North East zone had the highest average price at ₦6,446.53, reflecting a 5.30% decrease from June but a 57.70% increase from the previous year.
– The North Central zone averaged ₦6,042.33, marking a 14.85% decline from June and a 36.53% rise year-on-year.
– The North West zone’s average was ₦6,014.54, with a 9.69% drop from June and a 40.99% increase from the previous year.
– The South West zone reported an average of ₦5,864.64, a 19.02% decrease from June and a 58.02% increase year-on-year.
– The South East zone had an average price of ₦5,773.82, down 17.07% from June but up 50.05% year-on-year.
– The South-South zone recorded the lowest average price of ₦5,654.04, a 19.88% month-on-month decrease and a 42.41% year-on-year increase.
