The agency reassured Nigerians that the website would be operational soon, with efforts still underway to resolve the issue.
In an interview with Punch on Friday in Abuja, NBS spokesperson Joel Ichedi rejected claims that the website had been shut down indefinitely.
The breach, which occurred shortly after the launch of the bureau’s newly redesigned website, was publicly disclosed through the agency’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.
Following the attack, the NBS advised the public to disregard any information on the platform until the issue was resolved.
Ichedi explained, “It will be ready soon. I spoke with the officer in charge, and they’re still working on it. They want to assess the situation comprehensively to determine if the issue was linked to the new website design. The experts are handling it, and remember, we had a long holiday as well. It will be back very soon.”
He reassured the public, saying, “An important website like ours cannot be shut down indefinitely. The public can rest assured; we are working on it, and it will be up soon.”
