NCAA Breaks Silence On KWAM1 Saga — Here’s Their Next Move After His Apology

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has revealed that the Inspector General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) will determine the next steps in the case of veteran Fuji star Wasiu Ayinde, popularly known as K1 de Ultimate or KWAM1, after his recent altercation with ValueJet Airline officials at the domestic terminal of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, on Tuesday, August 5, 2025.

The heated incident, captured in a viral video, showed KWAM1 allegedly attempting to block a plane’s takeoff — sparking widespread public outrage. Following the uproar, the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, and the NCAA imposed a six-month flight ban on the musician. The pilots involved were also suspended and placed under investigation.

On Thursday, the NCAA disclosed it had petitioned the AGF and the IGP to investigate and prosecute KWAM1 over the disruption.

In a video released online on Friday, KWAM1 apologised, insisting he never intended to disrupt operations or violate aviation rules.

However, NCAA spokesperson Michael Achimugu told Punch that he had not yet seen the apology video. Asked about the agency’s next move, Achimugu explained that the NCAA does not have the power to prosecute, adding:

“We have referred the case to the Inspector General of Police and the Attorney General of the Federation, who are better positioned to determine and communicate the next steps.”

Minister Keyamo also reacted, saying officials had only just seen the apology on social media and had not yet discussed it internally.
