During this period, the NDLEA achieved the conviction of 57 suspects, with sentences ranging from three months to five years of imprisonment. Additionally, 47 cases are currently pending in court.

The command successfully seized a total of 1,909.69 kilograms of illicit drugs during its operations. Furthermore, efforts to reduce drug supply led to the identification and destruction of 9.5 hectares of cannabis farms, equivalent to 23.759 metric tonnes of cannabis sativa, located in Ifedayo and Oriade local government areas.

In addition to enforcement actions, the NDLEA engaged in counseling interventions with 79 People Who Use Drugs (PWUD) and conducted awareness and sensitization programs across various settings, including religious houses, schools, motor parks, markets, and workplaces.

Contrary to perceptions, the commander refuted claims that Osun was the second-highest cannabis-producing state in the South West.

Mr. Chidi Nnadi expressed gratitude to Gen. Buba Marwa (retired), the Chairman of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, and Osun Governor Ademola Adeleke for their dedicated efforts to combat substance abuse in the state and the entire nation. (NAN)
