NDLEA Uncovers 88 Packs Of Cocaine Hidden In Noodles, Businessman Arrested

The 54-year-old was detained at the boarding gate on Monday, August 12, 2024, while preparing to board Qatar Airways flight QR 1432 to Hanoi, Vietnam, via Doha. Following four days of observation, Mbadugha excreted 88 wraps of cocaine, weighing 1.710 kilograms in total.

In his confession, Mbadugha stated that he, a Lagos-based businessman, was given the cocaine pellets by a friend in Isolo, Lagos, for delivery to Vietnam for a $2,000 fee.

In a separate operation, NDLEA officers at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos intercepted 800 grams of synthetic cannabis, known as Loud, concealed in noodles destined for Congo. A subsequent raid at Alaba International Market led to the arrest of the sender, Nnamani Sunday Sunny, who is known for dealing in GSM handsets.

Additionally, NDLEA operatives at Lagos Airport recovered a large shipment of Loud from Canada. Desalu Taophic Temitope was arrested upon arrival on an Air France flight with six boxes. Four of the six suitcases contained 65.80 kilograms of the substance. Desalu claimed he and an accomplice, who remains at large, were promised $10,000 for the delivery in Lagos.

Furthermore, NDLEA officials, in conjunction with Nigeria Customs and other port authorities, seized 892,400 bottles of codeine-based syrup, worth approximately 6.25 billion Naira, at Port Harcourt Ports Complex, Onne, Rivers State. The syrup was shipped from India in five containers, with a total weight of 133,860 kilograms.
