Ndume also declined the offer to chair the Senate Committee on Tourism, recently announced by Senate President Godswill Akpabio, citing his perceived lack of requisite experience and exposure to effectively lead such a crucial committee.

Additionally, Ndume revealed that he had never aspired to the role of Senate whip, having previously served as Senate leader in the eighth senate. He disclosed that he was initially given the opportunity to choose a committee to serve as vice chairman and had played a pivotal role in the campaign that led to Godwill Akpabio’s election as Senate President.

Regarding speculations about his potential exit from the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ndume clarified that he is a founding member of the party. He recounted his involvement as one of the twenty-two senators from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who contributed to the formation of the APC during Abdullahi Ganduje’s tenure as deputy governor of Kano State.

On the matter of leaving the APC, Ndume indicated that he would consult with his constituents before making any decision, emphasizing the importance of their input in his deliberations.

Explaining his delayed response to his removal, Senator Ndume cited personal reasons, specifically mourning the recent loss of a family member, as the primary cause for his initial silence on the issue.
