NECO Releases 2026 SSCE Results, Here’s How To Check
The National Examination Council (NECO) has released the results of the 2026 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) for internal candidates.
According to Bush Radio Academy, the results were announced on Thursday by the NECO Registrar, Professor Dantana Wushishi, at the council’s headquarters in Minna, Niger State, 54 days after the conclusion of the final written paper.
Wushishi disclosed that 1,378,048 candidates registered for the examination, while 1,371,992 candidates eventually sat for the exercise. The figure comprised 678,903 male candidates and 693,089 female candidates.
According to the registrar, 804,948 candidates, representing 58.67 per cent of those who sat for the examination, obtained at least five credits, including Mathematics and English Language.
He added that 1,162,118 candidates, representing 84.70 per cent, obtained five credits and above regardless of their performance in Mathematics and English Language.
The council also reported a significant reduction in examination malpractice during the 2026 exercise. Wushishi said 1,406 candidates were involved in various forms of malpractice, compared with 3,878 recorded in 2025, representing a 64.74 per cent decrease.
The 2026 SSCE Internal examination was conducted across Nigeria’s 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, as well as in six foreign countries. The overseas centres were located in Benin Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Niger Republic, Côte d’Ivoire, Togo and Saudi Arabia.
The examination was conducted between June 15 and July 23, 2026.
Wushishi also disclosed that 1,334 candidates with special needs participated in the examination. They included 640 candidates with hearing impairment, 149 with visual impairment, 84 with albinism, 94 with autism, 136 with low vision and 231 with adermatoglyphia.
The NECO registrar further dismissed reports concerning the existence of so-called “miracle centres” approved by the council for the examination. He explained that examination centres are accredited only after meeting the council’s established requirements and standards.
Wushishi said the council also operates mechanisms intended to protect the integrity of the examination process, including measures that ensure scores are determined through established marking procedures.
